De Democratic National Committee (DNC) heeft de vier steden bekend gemaakt die in aanmerking komen om de Democratische conventie in 2012 te organiseren. De steden die de conventie in de week van 3 september mogen organiseren zijn St. Louis (Mississippi), Charlotte (North Carolina), Minneapolis (Minnesota) en Cleveland (Ohio). “Throughout this summer, our team will visit these four cities to determine which is the best locale to host our 46th National Convention”, aldus de voorzitter van de DNC, Tim Kaine, in een email. “We look forward to our continued work to ensure that the Democratic National Convention of 2012 is the best that it can be.” De DNC kiest de definitieve stad “at some point before the end of the year”, aldus een medewerker van de DNC tegenover CNN. Vorige maand koos de RNC Tampa (Florida) als stad voor de Republikeinse conventie in 2012.
