Na dat Donald Trump en Mike Huckabee bekend maakte niet mee te doen aan de race om de Republikeinse presidentiële nominatie in 2012, maakte de gouverneur van Indiana, Mitch Daniels, een einde aan al de speculaties of hij wel of niet zou mee doen in de race om de GOP nominatie.

“The counsel and encouragement I received from important citizens like you caused me to think very deeply about becoming a national candidate”, aldus Daniels in een email die werd gestuurd naar leden van de Republikeinse partij in Indiana.

“In the end, I was able to resolve every competing consideration but one, but that, the interests and wishes of my family, is the most important consideration of all. If you feel that this was a non-courageous or unpatriotic decision, I understand and will not attempt to persuade you otherwise. I only hope that you will accept my sincerity in the judgment I reached”, zo schreef Daniels in de email.

Nu Daniels niet mee doet, zijn er nog genoeg mensen die het in 2012 tegen president Barack Obama willen opnemen.
