Obama: “Bouw een nieuwe brug”
President Obama zei afgelopen week dat het herbouwen en het vernieuwen van de Amerikaanse infrastructuur niet een “a partisan issue” zou moeten zijn. President Obama uitte zijn kritiek op het feit dat de overheid niet bereid is geld uit te geven aan infrastructuur. Obama riep de Republikeinen op “not fight on something we all know makes sense.” Obama beschuldigde de Republikeinen ervan om niet meer geld vrij te maken voor de Highway Trust Fund dat, als er niets gebeurd, deze zomer geen geld meer heeft voor infrastructurele projecten. Tea Party voor immigratie hervorming
In jaar waar in er verkiezingen zijn voor het Congres wordt het debat over immigratie hervorming uitgesteld, maar Sal Russo, een belangrijke Tea Party activist, roept conservatieve politici op om het onderwerp op te pakken en er iets aan te doen. Russo, mede-oprichter van de Tea Party Express, roept het Congres op om “to fix a flawed and broken system to keep pace with a growing economy.” Lees meer hier.
Pelosi: “Hillary alleen maar sterker”
Bijna een week nadat de Republikeinen in het Huis van Afgevaardigden besloten om een commissie samen te stellen om de terroristische aanval op het consulaat in Benghazi te onderzoeken, zei de Democratische fractievoorzitter in het Huis, Nancy Pelosi, dat er nog niet is besloten of de Democraten plaats nemen in de commissie. “We’ll see”, aldus Pelosi tegenover CNN. Pelosi zei ook dat de Benghazi commissie Hillary Clinton alleen maar sterker maakt, omdat men er vanuit gaat dat er niets nieuws te melden valt. Lees meer hier.
Rice: “Jeb fantastische president”
Voormalig minister van Buitenlandse Zaken, Condoleezza Rice, hoopt dat Jeb Bush mee doet aan de presidentsverkiezingen in 2016, maar zei dat het onwaarschijnlijk is dat ze samen met een potentiële kandidaat op het stembiljet zal staan. Rice zei ook dat er meer antwoorden moeten komen over de terroristische aanval in Benghazi.
