Afgelopen week kregen de Republikeinen eindelijk hun kans om de minister van Volksgezondheid, Kathleen Sebelius, te ondervragen over de problemen met de Obamacare website. Sebelius gaf toe dat ze verantwoordelijk is en dat ze net zo gefrustreerd is over de problemen met de website als iedereen, maar zei ook dat de problemen worden opgelost. Reid: “Cruz maakt Republikeinse partij kapot”
De fractievoorzitter van de Democraten in de Senaat, Harry Reid, hoopt misschien wel dat de senator van Texas, Ted Cruz, de Republikeinse nominatie wint in 2016. “If I didn’t care so much about our country, I would hope he would get the Republican nomination for president, because that would mean the end of the Republican Party”, aldus Reid over Cruz in een interview met MSNBC. Clinton in plaats van Biden
De topadviseurs van president Obama hebben waarschijnlijk in het geheim met de gedachte gespeeld om vice-president Joe Biden voor de verkiezingen van 2012 te vervangen door Hillary Clinton vice-president te maken, omdat Obama dan meer kans had gehad om te worden herkozen, althans dat suggereert een nieuw boek “Double Down” over de campagne van 2012 gaat. De woordvoerder van het Witte Huis, Jay Carney, zei tegenover CNN dat het nooit serieus is overwogen. “Campaigns test everything”, aldus Carney. “When it comes to this particular issue, do campaigns test everything? Crist opnieuw voor gouverneurschap
De voormalige gouverneur van Florida, Charlie Crist, gaat weer proberen om gouverneur van Florida te worden, maar deze keer als Democraat. Crist was als Republikein van 2007 tot 211 gouverneur van de “Sunshine State.” Crist nam afscheid van de Republikeinse partij toen hij er in 2010 niet in slaagde om een senaatszetel te winnen. President Obama says that it’s misleading to say insurers are “cancelling” people’s insurance plans without also mentioning that almost all insurers are encouraging people to join better plans with the same carrier, with stronger benefits and stronger protections; while others will be able to get better plans with new carriers through the marketplace; and that many will get new help to pay for these better plans.
First Lady Michelle Obama and special guests Elmo and Rosita welcome school children from around the DC area to the fall harvest of the White House Kitchen Garden.
As part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative, Mrs. Obama joins Sesame Street’s Elmo and Rosita to announce that Sesame Workshop and the Produce Marketing Association joined the Partnership for a Healthier America in an agreement to help kids eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.
President Obama says that thanks to former Speaker of the House Tom Foley, more children get a head start on success in school and in life, more seniors receive better health care, and more families breathe easier because they know their country will be there for them in times of need.
President Obama says that new FBI Director James Comey has “dedicated his life to defending our laws – to making sure that all Americans can trust our justice system to protect their rights and their well-being.”
